MEME

1. What's your favorite holiday song? Silver Bell's
2. What's your favorite holiday tradition? Spending time with family and just enjoying their company.
3. If you could travel one place with an elderly family member where would you go? I wish I could bring my grandfather back and have him take me England to visit his hometown and the go to where he fought in WWII. I would end it with a trip to Vimy Ridge.
4. What questions would you ask? I would ask him what were his thoughts leaving a small baby boy (my dad) and a pregnant wife behind? How was he able to fight for 5 years and never meet his youngest child? Did it bother him? I know he fought for the Canadian Army to repay the Country for allowing him to come here from England as a young teenager as it he felt it was the least he could give back.
5. What is a non-tangible gift have you received from an elderly relative? My keen intrest in the Army and the World Wars and all the memories that my grandfather has given me!
6. What is the best/worst/strangest gift you've received from an elderly relative? I honestly can't think of anything.

Michigan it is for Black Friday!

Had an appointment with an Independent Neurologist. Do any Neurologists have any type of personality? Wow he shows no emotion, no change in pitch and says 'um' endlessly!
We are headed for a trip to Michigan to see the Peterborough Pete's play Plymouth Whaler's Friday, Saginaw Spirit on Saturday and Windsor Spitfires on Sunday!  I have suggested a "little" drive to Amish Michigan! Not sure if Pete will go for it or not! Sure hope so!

I have a FAE done by an Independent Kinesiologist on Friday and been having nothing but increased back pain and left hip pain since trying to do some of his tasks. I knew I should have refused! Too late now!

Tomorrow is the daily trip through Amish Lindsay Countryside!

November already!?!?!?

While we were headed to my weekly appointment in Lindsay we did the usual drive past the Amish School. The kids (I would tend to say 30ish) were out frolicking in the lovely November sun. Such a lovely day and so nice to see kids making their own fun at recess and not on cell phones. It seems that in today's society whenever you see keds there heads are tipped down and they are running into you if YOU are not paying attention to THEM!

Why has life become so complicated? It is funny how we can say that it must be hard to live without electricity etc etc but all the while we make it more and more difficult for ourselves to live without it. We apparently simplify our lives by getting a cell phone, but did we simplify it or make it more complex?
What do you think?

A book review of Mored Lost Than Found

More Lost Than Found by Jared Herd

This is a book that is trying to get the "adolescent" group of today to restore their faith in the Church and God as a whole.
It is an easy to read book and for someone who is questioning their faith it is a great read. It makes one question themselves about the path they have been on, the path they want to be on and the path that they should be on in a faith based world.

The book would be especially useful for Pastors/Ministers etc to use to work with the youth of the church. It would make a good book to use for a general discussion in a larger setting to get people to open up and express their thoughts and views and see other's as well.

It open's your eyes to what the Church is, what it can be and how it can be if you allow ytourself to be accepted into it or back into it!

More Lost Than Found

I received the first book to do a review on for booksneeze.com... I immediately started it. It is "More Lost Than Found" by Jared Herd. So far a great read. Stay tuned for the entire review upon completion.
Was down to the New York Amish Trail in Western New York for the past few days. What a beautiful Amish settlement they have down there. There are numerous homes. I was quite shocked. Much like Lancaster County to be honest! There are several home based shops with goods for sale. A definte return trip is in order!
Took in a Buffalo Sabres Hockey game on our way home. They lost to Tampa Bay Lightening. 2 ex Peterborough Pete's players were opponents in the game and in a fight! Patrick Kaleta, fell in the end to Steve Downie from Tampa Bay.

The next several weeks are full of assessments for the insurance company. My recovery is so long. I truly thought I would have had all of this behind me months ago! I was certain initially I would be back to work in December. Little did I know I would still not be walking at that point or fit to work over a year later. All in time, that is my newest motto. Along with... All I have is TIME!

Golden Rod?!?!?

Today while driving back from Whitby I gave notice to how much Golden Rod is covering the fields/ditches and lawns. It dawned on me as I tried to say to Pete but got extremely choked up and began to cry as I wanted to say "wow there seems to be a lot more Golden Rod out there this year compared to last year." That's when I realized I have nothing to compare this year's Golden Rod too!

It was a stark realization that I truly lost a bunch of time, a bunch of my life, my kids lives, my family's lives!

To that I should be thankful that I have everyday forward to celebrate but it was very sad to realize what all I have missed.

Fall is my favourite time of year so maybe that is what makes it so much harder to deal with. I have this fall and many more to come so that is what I need to remember and focus on!

Gonna try this blogging thing out!

I am trying to figure out a method to help with some of the deficits I have not since the accident and they tell me to try writing so here goes!  I am gonna try to do this. Not sure what it will equate to but all one can do is journey down the path of restoring oneself!
